  • TD Ameritrade shorted me $600

I just opened an account with TD Ameritrade because my uncle had an account and recommended them for ETF's. I had opened an account and didn't fund it for awhile. I finally took the leap and deposited 10k and bought an ETF. Well TD Ameritrade filled me in at the "mark" price which is a mid way between the bid and ask. I wanted the bid price .25 per share cheaper. I bought 2,500 shares, which is $625 that I didn't participate in, that went to TD Ameritrade. I sent a message and they told me that they didn't know I wanted to buy at bid price, WHO... More...

  • Dealing with TD Ameritrade

I was sent to TD Ameritrade for a consultation concerning my stock. I had to sit and listen to a spoiled rotten child that had hissy fits if I did not agree with his opinion. Mike was unprofessional (putting down other banks), lied, did not listen to one word I said in the fact that I am 58 and need to get out of aggressive stocks and into something more conservative, it was an all around nightmare. I ended HIS conversation stating I wanted to get more opinions (another hissy fit). He called back today and I was honest with him in that there were too many red flags. He became arrogant... More...

  • TD Ameritrade Creates Expat Catch 22

I am an expat American and have not paid US taxes in over 20 yrs. I wrote to TD Ameritrade explaining that I do not wish to destroy my tax-free status by one investment slip-up, so I inquired whether investing in Nasdaq stocks would reactivate my taxable status with the IRS, or whether my being physically absent the required length of time- would make the investment a moot point. My newly acquired investors' homepage - which they give one prior to having received any funds (?) informed me that they answer questions within 1 working day, so even though this is Day 2, I will remain... Attempting to set up beneficiary IRAs as executor of my mother's estate has been a nightmare. I have jumped through hoops and have provided every document and notarized letter they have required, all piecemeal because they will tell you that only one more thing is needed every time you talk to them. They throw up roadblocks with every call to them. NEVER do they give you the whole scoop. It's death by a thousand papercuts. The last rep I spoke to said 'I gotta go's and hung upon me. This after 45 minutes on hold. Still trying to get a measly $38,000 of my... More...

  • They make you pay for THEIR mistakes

After being an Ameritrade customer for more than 10 years, I was informed that I was no longer acceptable as a client (due to being a resident of either Switzerland or Dubai, apparently). I got 2 different email responses saying that 1) my account would be liquidated and 2) no, my account would not be liquidated but I could sell only, not buy. I asked for clarification and was told both answers were correct (??). I sent emails saying I was transferring my account and not to sell my positions. On Nov 7th, I received an email through the TD email system (Scott De Groote) saying I needed to... More...

  • TD Ameritrade will back out of a trade hours later

On the morning of 7/11/11 I purchased 80 bonds thinking I was getting a great price. Within minutes, I watched my account reflect the bonds in my possession, the money spent, and my new account balance. A few hours later, noting the market price, I decided to sell them. About 15 minutes after that, my account shows the bonds gone and my account value down about $70K. Not sold, gone. I immediately called up and was told the original price on the bond was a mistake, and they backed out of the transaction. Do not count your chickens even after they hatch at TD Ameritrade. Will TD... More...

I have had a retirement account with TD Ameritrade for 2 years now and am so glad I chose this firm to invest my money in. I am a young 26 year old who has learned so much from all the online tools and Suze Orman promos for TD Amaeritrade!! I feel confident that my money is in a safe place and that when I retire I will not have to rely on us dollars to keep me afloat. I will have my own savings thanks to TDAmeritrade and their helpful staff!! More...

  • Stock

It was several years ago now that TD Ameritrade stole $1200 from me. They did it legally (technically). I had shares of IVAX which was being taken over by TEVA in a stock and cash merger. TD Ameritrade contacted me asking me to send my request by mail as to whether I wanted stock or cash. I requested the TEVA stock as it was worth much more than the cash offer. A couple weeks later TD cashed my out of my IVAX stock claiming they didn't receive any communication from me. Now they didn't make any further attempt to call, email, or otherwise contact me. They just paid me off in... More...

  • TD Ameritrade is lousy

I just want to admonish your readers what a terrible experience I have had w/ a new account I opened at TD Ameritrade. Every month, for the past 3 months, I have had to re-set my password and "security questions" because they are repeatedly erased when TD Ameritrade does one of their frequent "software upgrades". The process must be done over the phone. Problem is, TD Ameritrade does not have enough customer service reps to answer the phone during normal market hours. If you want good service, stick with Scottrade, Fidelity or Vanguard. TD Ameritrade is a PITA. More...

  • TD Ameritrade

Dear Sir I am an international investor with initially with TD Water House later converted to TD Ameritrade since 2000 Since I opened the account I have never bought or sold equities by calling TD Ameritrade. All transactions always by using the company web site. I have set up very good security system for the password protection etc. Firstly back in 2006/2007 when I sold my equities at a big loss TD Ameritrade directly deposited 30% of the proceeds approximately $3,000 to IRS without my knowledge as the firm claimed I did not fill up W8BN IRS form.I was not informed of this by TD... • TD Ameritrade Are they correct or wrong

I opened a individual cash account with TD Ameritrade on September 5th, 2008. I agreed to have TD Ameritrade withdraw $10,000 out of my savings account. I completed everything in the TD Ameritrade account and made a transaction to purchase Caterpillar stock the same day. The order was filled on September 5th. On September 10, 2008 I received a phone call stating that TD Ameritrade had take it upon themselves to sell my Caterpillar stock. I was told it was due to insufficient funds. The account number that I gave them was correct however the money was in my money market account instead... More...

Problem: HP Printer not connecting to my laptop.
I had an issue while connecting my 2 year old HP printer to my brother's laptop that I had borrowed for starting my own business. I used a quick google search to fix the problem but that did not help me.
I then decided to get professional help to solve my problem. After having received many quotations from various companies, i decided to go ahead with Online Tech Repair (www.onlinetechrepairs.com).
Reasons I chose them over the others:
1) They were extremely friendly and patient with me during my initial discussions and responded promptly to my request.
2) Their prices were extremely reasonable.
3) They were ready and willing to walk me through the entire process step by step and were on call with me till i got it fixed.
How did they do it
1) They first asked me to state my problem clearly and asked me a few questions. This was done to detect any physical connectivity issues with the printer.
2) After having answered this, they confirmed that the printer and the laptop were functioning correctly.
3) They then, asked me if they could access my laptop remotely to troubleshoot the problem and fix it. I agreed.
4) One of the tech support executives accessed my laptop and started troubleshooting.
5) I sat back and watched as the tech support executive was navigating my laptop to spot the issue. The issue was fixed.
6) I was told that it was due to an older version of the driver that had been installed.
My Experience
I loved the entire friendly conversation that took place with them. They understood my needs clearly and acted upon the solution immediately. Being a technical noob,

sometimes find it difficult to communicate with tech support teams. It was a very different experience with the guys at Online Tech Repairs. You can check out their website www.onlinetechrepairs.com or call them on 1-914-613-3786.
Would definitely recommend this service to anyone who needs help fixing their computers.
Thanks a ton guys. Great Job....!!

TD Ameritrade's customer service comes up short in a comparison to excrement. Contradictory information, refusal to contact customer when there's an issue with a request (a request that was submitted exactly as instructed by the firm), and a fetish for imposing requirements -after- a request has been made all make dealing with this firm intolerable.

TD Ameritrade: a little bit of New York sociopathy right in Omaha, Nebraska.
